Firefox a security update has been released. This release addressed Bug 425576, which caused crashes within the JavaScript garbage collector. See Firefox Release Notes for more details. Users may obtain Firefox manually via the Check for Updates… option from the Help menu. Automatic upgrade (for those who have this feature enabled) should occur within the next 24-48 hours. Alternatively, users may also download Firefox directly by going to

Due to Firefox being a ‘Firedrill’ release all fixes/enhancements originally planned for the release have been bumped over to the upcoming Firefox release. Currently, a build/release schedule for Firefox is not available. I should have more information in the next few days, for sure after next Monday’s Weekly Update meeting.

To further complicate things, as a result of this bug and Firedrill release of Firefox, Thunderbird, which had been scheduled for release on April 15th has been scrapped. All bug fixed, updates, enhancements, etc have been rolled over to Thunderbird At this time, no build/release schedule is available. Given what David Ascher has said about Thunderbird updates, I would guesstimate a release by the end of the month.

Al, do you happen to know if the same bug occurred in other Gecko programs like SeaMonkey, K-Meleon, Camino etc?
The bugzilla page doesn’t mention other browsers at all, and it’s to late to test now, since the website that caused the crash has been changed and it no longer crashes.
