@r2r. Thanks for the info on BleachBit. The reason why I didn't mention it was because the Windows version is a "preview" version and while I don't have a problem with Beta software may of my readers don't want to install something as such on their systems.

Haven't heard of either of these issues from anyone else yet. Missing scroll bar could be a theme or add-on conflict. 3.5.1. did include a security patch updated for TraceMonkey the Java Script optimizer. You can try rolling back to Firefox 3.5 by uninstalling 3.5.1 and get 3.5 here:

Since I download 3.5 I am missing the scroll bar on some of the websites that I use (Facebook; homepage, not just the apps)and it des not recognize the java installed on my computer even though it is the most recent java version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the java as directed and still it says I don't have it installed. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled FF3.5 followed by uninstall and reinstall java...still nothing.

The scroll bar problem is new as well. Someone said there may be a compatibility issue but it worked fine before I updated FF. I'm thinking you tried to fix something that wasn't broke and now it is broken.

I really want to be able to continue using facebook so I need a quick resolution to this problem or I will have to go back to IE since I can scroll there.

After updating to 3.5.1 Firefox takes twice as long to open. Go figure. I had already cleaned out all of the Windows and IE temporary files like you suggested but didn't mess around with any of the vacuuming programs. No habla Espanol.

So, after following Microsoft's "documented" instructions to remove the extension, it kept coming back after Windows Critical Updates (without my consent I might add). So then I decided to block it from installing the 'DotNetAssistantExtension' folder by creating a extensionless file of the same name in the same folder and making it a system file and read-only. Then Firefox started crashing all the time and DW20 kept wanting to send error reports. I then decided to NOT run Windows Update and followed the instructions again and proceded to take it a step further by deleting the Microsoft entries in my 'prefs.js' and my 'extensions.cache','extensions.ini' and 'extensions.rdf' files only to see them IMMEDIATELY reappear in my 'prefs.js'. WTF?

So, I decided to uninstall the KB963707 "patch" altogether - funny thing is though, it installed it ONE LAST TIME before removing the entry in "Add/Remove Programs"! This is despicable! I had to follow the instructions all over again and remove the entries in my 'prefs.js' one last time.

Anyway, my question is this - how can I block the automatic installation of KB963707??

Thanks...
