The Firefox Extension Guru
Born and raised in California, relocated to Arizona in the summer (nothing like jumping right in) of 1993. In 1999, I obtained my Bachelor’s in Marketing from Arizona State University. This blog is my way of ‘marketing’ Firefox and Thunderbird. I took the plunge and installed Firefox on Christmas 2005 and have been using, testing and even crashing it ever since.
When I am not surfing the tech blogs, I spend most of my time tweaking (which includes crashing) Mozilla Firefox & Thunderbird as well testing and reviewing extensions. I’ll even play with beta and released versions of other browsers such as Netscape, Opera and Safari (but not IE7). I can also be found over at Go Firefox! on DelphiForums (where my nickname originated) as well as the CyberNet Forum or reading various other blogs (see sidebar). In addition, I operate a freelance web design business, Anozira Web Creations (see in Links of Interest on my main blog page). Finally, I also co-operate two sister blogs for the popular ABC Medical Drama Grey’s Anatomy (see Sister Blogs in sidebar).
About Firefox
What is Firefox?
Firefox is a browser that more and more people are using instead of Internet Explorer or AOL. It is free, and was created by Mozilla.org, the original creators of the Netscape browser. Firefox was officially released in November 2004. It’s popularity is increasing rapidly, with over 200+ million downloads so far.
My browser seems fine to me. Why use Firefox?
Firefox has many built-in features that are not available with older browsers, such as:
- Popup Blocking - Stop annoying popup ads in their tracks with Firefox’s built in popup blocker.
- Tabbed Browsing - View more than one web page in a single window with this time saving feature. Open links in the background so that they’re ready for viewing when you’re ready to read them.
- Privacy and Security - Built with your security in mind, Firefox keeps your computer safe from malicious spyware. A comprehensive set of privacy tools keep your online activity your business.
- Smarter Search - Google Search is built right into the toolbar, and there is a plethora of other search tools including Smart Keywords (type “dict <word>” in the Location bar), and the new Find bar (which finds text as you type without covering up anything).
What does Firefox look like?
Firefox looks similar to other browsers. One major difference is the tabs. Each site opens in a different tab. To switch between sites, just click the tab. Tabs can save lots of time since the pages don’t have to be re-loaded. There are many options for setting up tabs, including opening all your favorite sites automatically when you start your browser.
Is it hard to switch to Firefox?
No! Simple and intuitive, yet fully featured, Firefox has all the functions you’re used to - Bookmarks, History, Full Screen, Text Zooming to make pages with small text easier to read, etc.
Setup’s a Snap! At only 7MB (Windows), Firefox takes just a few minutes to download over a slow connection and seconds over a fast connection. The installer gets you set up quickly, and the new Easy Transition system imports all of your settings - Favorites, passwords and other data from Internet Explorer and other browsers - so you can start surfing right away.
What about more advanced features?
Firefox has many features for people who want more from their browser, such as:
- Live Bookmarks - RSS integration lets you read the latest news headlines and read updates to your favorite sites that are syndicated.

I want to download INBOX’s mail notifier for Firefox but it will only allow me to download to IE!!!! Firefox is my preferred browser and the one I have sent as my default, nevertheless the same thing keep happening. HEEELLLLLP.

I have an extension in alpha development. You can get to it from my website. I am still working on a lot of content and I have not finalized a recipe storage and presentation system; however, much of the core functionality works under the covers of the alpha system. After 7 alpha releases my friends need a break from testing. Give it a spin and let me know what you think.
