How to Block IE7 Auto-Update

To disable the automatic update to IE7 on your own machine (Note: if you DO NOT have Windows XP SP2 installed DO NOT continue, IE7 requires you to have SP2):

1. Download to your DESKTOP the IE7 Blocking Tool from the IntelliAdmin site
2. The downloaded file is calledIE7BlockingTool.exe, double click on the file to run
3. Click the radio button: Disable IE 7 auto install
4. Click Apply and you have blocked IE 7 from being force fed to you via auto-update
5. Move the downloaded file from your desktop into the recycle bin.

Update: Mozilla Japan’s New Mascot

Last month I wrote about the contest to name Mozilla Japan’s new mascot (as seen on the left). The contest has ended and the official name is Foxkeh. I still have to wonder what the other mascot entries were like if Mozilla Japan choose this one out of some 600. Yes it is a “Fire Fox” but still.

I have collected some various comments about Foxkeh:

• SonOfPearl on Mozilla Links: “I think a slight re-design is needed to make the tail look more tail-like and less like a gaseous emmission!”

I am glad Mozilla in the US is going to stick with the traditional Firefox logo.
